Olmstead & Associates today announced that Dr. John W. Olmstead, president of the legal management consulting group, and Paul J. Sullivan will facilitate roundtables at an upcoming Law Office Economics Breakfast Symposium Breakfast Forum session hosted by the Law Office Economics Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association. This is part of the Illinois State Bar Association’s annual conference.
The conference is being held on June 18, 2004 in Lake of Geneva, Wis., at the Abbey Resort. Olmstead and Sullivan will facilitate roundtable discussions focused on practice management issues facing small law firms. Their primary role as facilitators is to lead discussion on the topic and act as an informative resource.
Paul J. Sullivan is an adjunct consultant with Olmstead & Associates and currently a Legal Administrator with the firm of Quinn Johnston Henderson & Pretorius. Mr. Sullivan has over 17 years experience in the day to day operations of a law office. He has expertise in Financial Management, Human Resources issues, Facilities management including branch office operations, technology, and overall general management. He frequently writes articles for Legal Management publications on various management topics and is a regular participant in the Illinois State Bar Association programs on Law Office operations. Prior to joining the Law firm, Mr. Sullivan spent over 20 years in business and business development roles as owner and operator of a successful company for over 10 years, and in various Sales and Supervisory positions with Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys). Sullivan holds a bachelors degree from Western Illinois University and has completed numerous management and professional development programs over the years. He is quite active in the Association of Legal Administrators. He was a charter member and Past President of the Central Illinois Chapter and currently charter member and current Vice President of the ALA Cyber Chapter. He is a current member of the Illinois State Bar Association Law Office Economics section; a member of the Illinois Central College Paralegal advisory board, and a board member of the Peoria Area Economic Development Council.
Dr. Olmstead has more than 34 years of experience in law firm management and working with other professional service firms. He is president of Olmstead & Associates, a legal management-consulting firm based in St. Louis. He also is Editor-in-Chief of The Lawyers Competitive Edge: The Journal of Law Office Economics and Management, published by West Group. His doctoral work in Business Administration concentrated on organizational behavior and marketing. He has lectured for the Association of Legal Administrators, St. Louis Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Trial Attorneys, IBM, Illinois State University, Illinois State Bar Association, Solo-Map CPA Association of St. Louis and many other state and local bar associations.
