Olmstead Speaks At County Bar Meeting

ST. LOUIS, MO., March 19, 2003 . . .

Olmstead & Associates today announced that Dr. John W. Olmstead, president of the legal management firm, recently spoke in Quincy, Illinois at the Adams County monthly bar association meeting.

The meeting was held on January 30, 2003 in Quincy, Illinois, at the Ritz Restaurant. Dr. Olmstead’s presentation “Office Technology Integration: Pulling it All Together” focused on strategies for using a planned and phased approach to implementing technology in the law office. He stressed the importance of selecting billing, accounting, practice and document management systems that worked together to form an integrated office sharing data and information across all applications. Dr. Olmstead stated that firms should resist the temptation of selecting software applications in a piecemeal fashion. Software Technology’s Tabs 3, accounting, and practice management products and WORLDOX’s document management system were presented to illustrate integrated products.

Dr. Olmstead is a certified management consultant and has more than 30 years of experience in law firm management and working with other professional service firms. He is president of Olmstead & Associates, a legal management-consulting firm based in St. Louis. He also is Editor-in-Chief of The Lawyers Competitive Edge: The Journal of Law Office Economics and Management, published by West Group. His doctoral work in Business Administration concentrated on organizational behavior and marketing. He has lectured for the Association of Legal Administrators, St. Louis Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Trial Attorneys, IBM, Illinois State University, Illinois State Bar Association, Solo-Map CPA Association of St. Louis and many other state and local bar associations.
