ST. LOUIS, MO,. DECEMBER 14, 2000…

Law firms from St. Louis and across the country are discovering that a little personal coaching can go a long way toward enhancing their business. They have turned to a coaching program designed by Olmstead & Associates, a St. Louis-based law office management-consulting firm. The program was developed to provide attorneys with one-on-one coaching to help them get “unstuck” and move forward reinventing both themselves and their law practices.

“Those who participate learn how to focus their practice, manage their investment time, build and enhance client relationships, plan for the future, and implement action orientated strategies,” said Dr. John Olmstead, president of Olmstead and Associates. He cites client relationship building, client service, firm leadership, marketing and practice diversification as just a few of the concerns today’s attorneys have. Often the problem involves lack of commitment, inertia, implementation, self-accountability and follow-up. The coaching program is designed to assist attorneys in implementing skill development, true personal change and expanding their capacity for action.

Coaching services are provided by Dr. John W. Olmstead, Jr., MBA and Dr. Thomas J. Venardos. Dr. Olmstead is a Certified Professional Consultant to Management and president of Olmstead & Associates. He has more than 31 years experience in law firm management and working with attorneys. He is Editor-in-Chief of The Lawyers Competitive Edge: The Journal of Law Office Economics and Management, published by West Group. His doctoral work in Business Administration concentrated on organizational behavior and marketing.

Dr. Thomas J. Venardos is a management consultant, author and professor. He specializes in organization and staff development with an emphasis on creating higher performance standards and preparing the organization for successful functioning. His doctoral work is in counseling and applied organizational psychology.

In order to support local, national and international clients, as well as the unique schedules of attorneys, several delivery methods are available including in-person sessions, telephone sessions and even an Internet option. Evening and weekend sessions can be arranged.
