Our firm works with law and other professional service firms ranging in size from 100 professionals to firms with solo practitioners. Located in St. Louis, Missouri and founded in 1984, the firm is a law office management consultant that serves clients across the United States assisting them with implementing change and improving operational and financial performance, management, leadership, client development, and marketing

Olmstead and Associates also specializes in law firm strategic planning. As a law firm management consultant, our business is accommodating our clientele with information and custom advisory tools that will help their law firms progress and succeed.

Our clients benefit from our team approach oriented towards results concerning consulting engagements. We don't simply provide advisory services; rather we partner with our clients and serve as a member of our client's management team and function as an advisor, coach, teacher, and facilitator. Our People
The firm's consultants and staff have an extensive background in law firm strategy and marketing, management, administration, organizational behavior, and development, human resources, management, marketing, technology, and accounting.

The firm's founder, Dr. John W. Olmstead is a Certified Management Consultant and president of the firm.

Dr. Olmstead has over 35 years of experience working with law and other professional service firms. His assignments have ranged from marketing and strategic planning to other legal management engagements such as organizational change, firm governance, implementation of technology, financial management, staff development, partner compensation, and practice management. He has lectured for the Association of Legal Administrators, Missouri Trial Attorneys, St. Louis Metropolitan Bar Association, IBM, Illinois State University, Illinois State Bar Association, Solo-Map CPA Association of St. Louis, and many other state and local bar, as well as other professional associations. Dr. Olmstead has authored numerous articles on law office management in local, regional, and national law office management publications. He is currently serving as Editor-In-Chief, West Group, The Lawyers Competitive Edge: The Journal of Law Office Economics and Management. He is frequently quoted in numerous newspapers and magazines across the country.
